Becoming a Foster

Becoming a Foster

  • Complete our Foster Application to get started.
  • Once your application is received, our team will review the information provided, contact references when applicable, verify information, and contact you regarding approval.
  • Once approved, we’ll work with you to select an animal that is a good fit for your home, family, pets, experience, and lifestyle. We never want a foster placement to feel like you’re being handed a dog you aren’t prepared for.
  • Foster families are asked to provide regular updates, photos, videos, and information about their foster animal’s personality and progress. This information is extremely valuable in helping us create accurate adoption profiles and find the best possible forever home.
  • Foster families should be reasonably available to help facilitate meet-and-greets with approved potential adopters when needed.
  • Bring Em Home provides and coordinates necessary veterinary care for animals in our rescue. Foster families must be willing and able to transport their foster animal to approved veterinary appointments, vaccinations, procedures, training, or other necessary appointments as arranged by the rescue.
  • Out-of-state foster applications may be considered; however, because our veterinary providers, events, meet-and-greets, and other rescue resources are primarily located in Maryland, fosters must be able to reasonably accommodate necessary travel.

What We Ask From Our Fosters

More than anything, we ask our fosters to provide patience, consistency, communication, and love.

Many animals entering rescue have experienced uncertainty, neglect, medical issues, or simply never had the opportunity to learn how to live successfully in a home. A foster home gives them the chance to decompress, learn, heal, and show us who they truly are.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to give them a chance.

Thank you for considering opening your home to a Bring Em Home animal. By fostering one animal, you’re not only changing that animal’s life—you’re helping us make room to save another.

Bring Em Home Animal Rescue & Trapping Inc. is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to giving animals the second chances they deserve.
