Thank You for Considering Adoption!

Thank you for considering adopting from Bring Em Home Animal Rescue & Trapping Inc. (BEHART)!

As a foster-based rescue, our goal isn’t simply to find homes for our animals—it’s to find the right home for each individual animal. Our adoption process helps us make the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter.

Our Adoption Process

The adoption process begins by completing our Adoption Application.

Once we receive your application, our team will review the information provided, contact references when applicable, verify information, and complete any additional screening necessary.

Because we are a volunteer-run rescue and receive multiple applications while also caring for animals in our foster program, please allow us adequate time to complete the process. We appreciate your patience!

Approval of an application does not guarantee adoption of a particular animal. Our priority is making sure each placement is a good fit for the animal and the adopting family.

Meeting Our Adoptable Animals

Bring Em Home is a foster-based rescue, which means our animals live in private foster homes rather than at a public shelter facility.

For the safety of our animals, foster families, and applicants, meet-and-greets are generally arranged after an adoption application has been reviewed and approved.

A meet-and-greet gives you and the animal an opportunity to get to know one another. You are never obligated to adopt simply because you meet an animal.

Likewise, our rescue and foster families will evaluate the interaction to help determine whether the placement is appropriate.

Sometimes the animal you initially apply for may not be the best match—but another Bring Em Home animal might be!

Children & Other Pets

We evaluate every adoption individually.

Our animals come from many different backgrounds, and their needs vary. Some may thrive with children, dogs, cats, or other pets, while others may require a quieter home or need to be the only animal.

Any age recommendations or household restrictions listed for a particular animal are based on what we believe will provide the safest and most successful placement.

If you currently have pets, we may require an appropriate meet-and-greet before finalizing an adoption.

Adoption Requirements

Adopters must meet the minimum age requirements established by Bring Em Home and provide accurate information throughout the application process.

We may request identification, veterinary references, landlord approval when applicable, and other information necessary to verify that the home is appropriate for the animal.

Out-of-state applications may be considered; however, we do not ship or transport animals to adopters. Any required meet-and-greets and adoption arrangements must be coordinated with the rescue.

Bring Em Home Animal Rescue & Trapping Inc. reserves the right to deny an adoption application or decline a placement when we believe it is not in the best interest of the animal.

Finalizing the Adoption

Once an adoption is approved and everyone agrees that the animal is a good match, arrangements will be made to finalize the adoption.

Before taking your new family member home, you will be required to review and sign our Adoption Contract and pay the applicable adoption fee.

The adoption contract outlines your responsibilities as the adopter as well as Bring Em Home’s commitment to the animal.

After Adoption

Our commitment doesn’t end when an animal leaves with their new family.

We love receiving updates, photos, and stories about our former rescue animals, and we’re here to provide guidance when needed as they adjust to their new homes.

Adopters are expected to maintain appropriate veterinary care and follow any medical, training, or other requirements outlined in their adoption contract.

A Lifetime Commitment

When Bring Em Home accepts an animal into our rescue, we make a commitment to that animal for life.

If at any point you are unable to continue caring for an animal adopted from Bring Em Home, you must contact us.

Our animals may not be surrendered to another rescue, shelter, transferred to another person, sold, or independently rehomed without contacting Bring Em Home and following the requirements of your adoption contract, except when surrender to an appropriate authority is required by law.

We understand that circumstances can change. Our priority will always be making sure the animal remains safe and receives the care they deserve.

Every animal deserves a chance—and we want every adoption to be a forever one.

Bring Em Home Animal Rescue & Trapping Inc. is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to giving animals the second chances they deserve.
